MAYOR ARLENE PLEDGES DEEPER COMMITMENT TO HER SANTA ROSA FAMILY

July 1 is not only the first day of Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas’ birth month; it is also her first day of assumption of office as the City Mayor of the City of Santa Rosa.

Though she was also able to serve the people of Santa Rosa while in Congress, she said that “Bumalik ang inyong lingkod para sa inyo… because you always go back to where your heart belongs.”

Mayor Arlene served the City of Santa Rosa as Mayor for three terms in 2007, 2010 and 2013. Prior to that, she served as Kabataang Barangay Federation President of then town of Santa Rosa in 1984; elected Senior Councilor in 2004, elevated to City Vice Mayor in 2005, and assumed as OIC Mayor in 2006.

Remembering her father, the late Mayor Leon C. Arcillas, Mayor Arlene said that her father’s love for the people of the city was endowed to the entire family as well, and that is why the hearts of the Arcillas family will be with the people for always.

She said that the city has been steadily developing, and it is her dream that everyone will also feel it in their own lives and households, and vowed to work doubly hard so people can really feel and benefit in its growth.

Promising to continue her administration’s practice of participatory governance, Mayor Arlene said that she, along with the other newly elected officials, will be needing the support of the people especially the employees of the city government.

“Sa pagkakapanalo namin ay kasama namin kayo na maglilingkod.

Kaya patunayan ninyo na kaisa ninyo kami, na kasama namin kayo para lalo pa umangat (at) gumanda ang Lungsod ng Santa Rosa na mararamdaman ng bawat isa,” she said.

Mayor Arlene took her oath office with Secretary Menardo Guevarra of the Department of Justice as officiating officer. In the past, her oaths of office were also administered by key officials from the Justice Department which, according to her, attests to her commitment to give justice to her constituents. “Hustisyang bawat isang mamamayan ay makakamit… na makapamuhay nang tama para sa pamilya at sarili,” she said.

She also shared that she, along with other select elected officials, also took their oaths with no less than President Rodrigo Duterte as officiating officer. On top of these, she said that she places utmost importance to the promise she made to the people.

Mayor Arlene will serve the city along with the new set officials namely Hon. Arnel Gomez, as Sangguniang Panlungsod Presiding Officer; Hon. Sonia Algabre, Hon. Mythor Cendaña, Hon. Ina Clariza Cartagena, Hon. Laudemer Carta, Hon. Roy Gonzales, Hon. Ma. Theresa Aala, Hon. Rodrigo Malapitan, Hon. Antonio Tuzon Jr., Hon. Wilfredo Castro and Hon. Jose Joel Aala as SP Members.
