The 5th CALABARZON Research and Statistics Forum was held October 18, 2018 at Batangas State University's Campus, with the theme Innovations and Competitiveness.
The event highlighted a total of 28 researchers from different government and private institutions, with their respective research papers and posters, selected and screened from scores of preliminary entries.
Incidentally, six presentations and posters were entries from the Adventist University of the Philippines, but also the 1st, 2nd and third placers.
Researcher Ferdinand E. Mendoza, with his paper entitled: “Detection and Differentiation of Enterococcus, Escherichia coli, and Other Coliforms in Drinking Water Using a Novel Testing Method”, earned the 1st Place with the monetary prize of PhP10,000.00.
“Efficacy of Ripened Extract Peel of Musa paradisiaca(Banana) Against Staphylococcus aureus” by Student Researchers Jahzeel Neil Salagubang, John Mikko Riosa, Florence Gaye Salido and Research Adviser Carmela G. Malabat won 2nd place, and a monetary prize of Php5,000.
“Phytochemical Screening and Anti-Fungal Activity of Pseudelephantopus spicatus (Dog’s Tongue) Against Aspergillus niger” by Student Researchers Edelweiss Tutor, Dennis Rate Zamora, Edriel B. Rivero and Research Adviser Joyosthie B. Orbe got 3rd Place, and PhP 3,000.00.
