Last August 22, 2019, President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law a measure creating a separate legislative district for Sta. Rosa City.
Santa Rosa is, at present, part of the first district of Laguna and will constitute the lone legislative district of the City of Sta. Rosa under Republic Act No. 11395. This makes San Pedro City the only remaining part of the province’s first district, which is represented by Dan Fernandez at the House of Representatives.
As for now, the incumbent representative of the first district of Laguna will continue to represent the district until a representative of the lone district of Sta. Rosa City is elected. The transition will take effect in the next national and local elections.
